Geoffrey & Gregory: What's gone gets forgotten #17

[A brief history of me in less than 200 words.]

Geoffrey & Gregory
Geoffrey lived next door to our flat, and Gregory lived on the other side.  Both were about my age, and we all became friends.  Geoffrey was a rather large, Just William type of character, with chubby red cheeks, and a portly belly even at that young age.  He used
to ride around on a three wheeled tricycle with a huge box on the back, which usually contained sweets or chocolates given to him by his Mum.  Once, when I was playing with Geoffrey in his flat; we went into his bedroom, and there on the side was a huge bowl of sugar, which he informed me he liked to have a spoonful from!
Gregory’s parents were from the West Indies, and sadly when his Mum died; he and his Dad moved back to Jamaica to be close to the rest of the family.  Before they left, they gave me Gregory’s go cart.  It was a fantastic toy; totally made from metal; a replica of a 1930s racing car.  I drove it around out the front of the flats at Heston Grange until eventually the axel wore its way through the chassis of the car, and it fell apart.

Not a photo of me I'm afraid, but you get the idea.

  1. How practical and how kind to pass the toy along to continue to be loved. I'm sure you lost track of Geoffrey; how sad to be addicted to sugar so young.
